Bulldogs add 2024 Juco Player of the Year

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State men's basketball signed its second recruit this week in 2024 NJCAA DI Player of the Year Amar Augillard on Thursday.

"Amar is a special basketball player who earned National JUCO Player of the Year this past season at Triton, which is an unbelievable accomplishment," said Fresno State head men's basketball coach Vance Walberg. "His ability to be a big time scorer from all three levels while still being efficient is a rare trait. He's already itching to get here for summer workouts so the Bulldog family should be really excited about what we are getting in Amar for the next two years!"

A 6-foot-5, 220-pound guard originally from Zion, Ill., Augillard averaged 22.7 points per game last season to pace Triton College's prolific offense which ranked sixth in the nation in scoring at 91.9 per game. The third-year sophomore finished the season ranked No. 2 in the nation in total points (841), field goals made (296) and 3-point field goals made (122). His 841 points and 122 3-pointers set Triton school records. He shot 51.4% from the field (296-of-576), 42.4% from 3 (122-of-288) and 83.0% from the stripe (127-of-153), while adding 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

Augillard's list of accolades includes NJCAA DI First Team-All American, NJCAA DI Championship All-Tournament team, Region 4 DI Player of the Year, Region 4 DI First Team selection and Region 4 DI Tournament MVP.

Augillard led the Trojans to a 34-3 record and an appearance in the NJCAA DI national championship game. In 37 appearances he posted 24 20-point performances including nine games with 30-plus and two with more than 40. He had a season high 46 points, shooting 12-of-18 from 3.

At Zion-Benton High School, Augillard earned back-to-back Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Class 4A all-state team selections. He averaged 28 points and 12 rebounds per game as a senior and finished his career with 2,174 points. Augillard spent his first two collegiate seasons at Georgia Southern, redshirting in 2021-22 and playing in 11 games in 2022-23.
