Hi! My wife Lisa and I have a 12 year old boy named Jackson and a 9 year old girl named Lauren. Jackson's a sweet kid who loves math and science and is already way beyond me when it comes to computers. Lauren may seem shy, but ask her about animals, especially West Highland White Terriers, and she'll talk your fluffy little ears off!
Friday night is our family "Star Trek and pizza night," and we like to go for hikes and bike rides. On weekends I play ice-hockey with other old, slow guys, and I'm eager to take the kids to a Kings or Ducks game soon! Lisa and I are also the owners of 2 self-serve frozen yogurt stores, so we like to support other small business owners!
THIS is the #1 movie in the country? Really?
I may be a wimp, or as we used to say, a "weenie" but I totally don't get how so many people can be entertained by this kind of film. Friends have tried to explain that they get a "rush" from the suspense, but I still don't get how anyone can actually get pleasure from watching violence.
Same goes for the games. A few years ago I visited a friend who had a daughter who was about 9 at the time, and they were happily sitting together playing the most disturbing, violent video game I'd ever seen. Me, I can't take it. Not a second of it.
I'm not suggesting that you, an adult can't watch what you want. But jeez, yuuck!
A few years ago, the whole country freaked out because part Janet Jackson't breast was briefly exposed to the people of America. It was said to be "disgusting." And yet this week, millions of parents will take their kids to a movie like this. I just don't get it.
