LIFESTYLE FUN:

So I'm not really a football fan...while I will watch the big game for the commercials and to see the 49'ers win.....I'll probably be spending more time on the Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet.....CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!! I love how the ref describes how the game will go down......

“It is my job to call the puppy fouls,” says Schachner, whose day job is as a commercial and voiceover actor. “So if I see puppies hurting themselves or doing something that is not puppylike, I throw my flag and call a penalty.”

Schachner’s secret? He keeps treats in his back pocket.

“I don’t want to say the Puppy Bowl ref is bribing anybody,” he says. “I would call it rewarding good behavior as needed.”

Referee Dan Schachner calls nap time during Puppy Bowl IX.

“Integrity is a big part of my job,” he says. “I don’t play favorites. When a puppy scores a touchdown, I am told his name and that’s how I can give him praise. It’s done on a case by case basis.”

According to Schachner — who passed the only exam given to the Puppy Bowl ref, an allergy test — the most common calls are illegal use of the paws (when a player gets too rambunctious), “roughing the pisser” (when one player does not let another do their business), and premature watering of the lawn (when a player pees on the field

This year’s show boasts past favorites and a few new improvements. There’s still the kitten halftime show, the hamster-piloted blimp and the water-bowl cam. But the 2013 Puppy Bowl has also added hedgehog cheerleaders on the sideline, a new Puppy Cam that shows the game through the player’s perspective, and a hot tub for substitute players to relax in.

HOLLYWOOD DIRT:
Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough pose at A Night with Nicholas Sparks’ Safe Haven: Filmmakers, Author and Stars Bring The Book To Life at Castle Studios on January 17, 2013 in Burbank, Calif.
Josh Duhamel thought it would be a good idea to have a 'Man to Man' with Julianne Hough's boyfriend Ryan Seacrest before filming the love scenes of 'Safe Haven'...turns out Ryan hadn't even thought about it and now Josh is kicking himself saying “I walked away thinking, ‘Why would I feel compelled to do that? You only made him think about it when you didn’t even need to.’”
Josh also thought that Julianne was a prim and proper girl.....Whoa was he wrong!

“I expected Julianne Hough, the beautiful Julianne Hough, sparkly and beautiful and all those things. Dancer, performance background. I expected prim and proper,” he said when Julianne asked in our Access interview for his first impression of his co-star. “I got a dude who is probably more of a dude than me. That was the biggest surprise. I guess [that was] the biggest, [most] pleasant surprise, because I was expecting sort of prim and proper, and I got just the opposite.”

As for what Julianne thought of Josh?

“A sexy dork. You’re a sexy dork,” she said.

“Safe Haven” hits movie theaters on February 14.
